Hylton and I sailed Ho'okipa after first checking out a very flat Kanaha. Ho'okipa today was the perfect size for an amateur. Head high-ish with the occasional bigger set and for a change not at all threatening. But the wind...wowser wowser. On arrival it was absolutely honking and I had serious concerns that I didn't have a small enough sail for the job. Eventually I decided to give it a go on a very flat 4.5 and was seriously stacked but nevertheless had a great session. For the first time I felt really confident in the Ho'okipa waves and scored loads of nice turns even though hanging on to my mega powered up rig whilst going down the line was often hard work. Best of all was that the not too big waves meant I was able to push my sailing without any of the usual Ho'okipa swims and oh-sh*t-rocks moments when things went wrong. Not too busy today either and great to be out on the water with Kauli and all other pros. Plus the usual glorious sunshine, bath-water warm blue sea, turtles etc etc.

Very keen now for more of the same tomorrow. Might make it a whole Ho'okipa day.
